Randall’s Island Park was profiled in the October 12 edition of the New York Times’ Weekend Arts section. “Two Sets of Two-Wheeling Adventures” profiles the park, its pathways and natural areas, and its popularity among both pedestrians and cyclists:
Many New Yorkers know Randalls Island as a recreational mecca, home to Icahn Stadium, golf and tennis centers and soccer, softball and baseball fields. Others flock to the 480-acre island in the East River, officially part of Manhattan, for outdoor concerts and other ticketed events that can attract as many as 90,000 attendees over a long summer weekend. But the island, most of which is parkland, offers quieter pleasures too, from picnic areas and a playground to gardens, wetlands and salt marsh.
