SUMMARY:Black Birders Week Celebration: Birds & Bites
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate #BlackBirdersWeek at Randall’s Island Park with a day of bird-themed fun and activities! #BlackBirdersWeek is an initiative by Black AF in Stem which uplifts birders and scientists within the Black community. Join renowned local birders for a guided walk through the park and learn about the birds that make their home on the Island.  \nA limited number of binoculars will be available to borrow on a first-come\, first-served basis. This year\, we are offering two routes\, both starting at Icahn Stadium and concluding at our Living Shoreline:  \n\nFamily Friendly Route: 1.5 miles winding through our Little Hell Gate Salt Marsh \n\n\nAdvanced Route: 3 miles through our Little Hell Gate Salt Marsh and up along the Bronx Shore \n\nRegistration is recommended for the bird tours here. \nAfter the walks\, join us for a community celebration with music\, games\, and bites from a local business at our Living Shoreline! Just look for the most unusual ‘boat’ on the water — that’s us!\n\nOur show is family-friendly but intended for audiences of all ages. The performance starts at 6:00 pm and will be finished before 7:30. Bring a blanket or lawn chair\, and come early for a good spot!\n\nThe show is free to attend\, but we keep this crazy project afloat through donations. Safely park your bikes and enjoy the festivities with ease of mind. Visit each truck and learn from the operators themselves about how they use their truck every day. You might have the chance to sit in the front seat and pose for a photo!  \nLast year we had trucks from the FDNY\, NYPD\, NYC Parks\, and many others! DESCRIPTION:Kick off the summer season at Randall’s Island Park with an evening of fireworks and fun with special evening Open Hours at our Urban Farm (6:00PM-9:00PM)! There will also be activities at the East River Picnic Area from 6:30 PM until the fireworks show.  \nJoin us for self-guided exploration\, discover a variety of fruits and vegetables\, an active composting system\, and a Tot Lot designed for our youngest friends before the Astoria Park fireworks display at dusk (fireworks courtesy of Central Astoria\, LDC).
