Randall’s Island Park has a rich history of hosting cultural events and continues to do so today. Throughout the year, RIPA provides numerous free drop-in programs such as walking tours, movie nights, waterfront activities and our annual Cherry Blossom and Harvest Festivals. In addition, large special events, produced by independent organizations other than the City and RIPA, offer visitors a great variety of exciting options – continuing the Island’s strong tradition as a central entertainment venue for New York City.
RIPA hosts over 100 free public events each year. These family-friendly drop-in events play an integral role in helping Park visitors explore the Island’s varied points of interest. For additional information contact our Public Programs team at firstname.lastname@example.org.
iNaturalist City Nature Challenge
April 27 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Join us to learn about the incredible diversity of plants and wildlife that can be found on and around Randall’s Island. Participants will learn how to use iNaturalist to document and identify plants and animals. All of the observations will go towards the City Nature Challenge, a global competition to find out which city in the world can do the most to observe nature. Last year New York City finished in ninth place, just behind Boston, and ahead of Chicago. This year 60 cities are competing worldwide, and with your help, we hope to finish in the top ten! Bring your charged smartphone.
Location: North end of Icahn Stadium
