Randall’s Island Park has a rich history of hosting cultural events and continues to do so today. Throughout the year, RIPA provides numerous free drop-in programs such as walking tours, movie nights, waterfront activities and our annual Cherry Blossom and Harvest Festivals. In addition, large special events, produced by independent organizations other than the City and RIPA, offer visitors a great variety of exciting options – continuing the Island’s strong tradition as a central entertainment venue for New York City.
RIPA hosts over 300 free public events each year. These family-friendly drop-in events play an integral role in helping Park visitors explore the Island’s varied points of interest. For additional information contact our Public Programs team at [email protected].

International Migratory Bird Day & Birding Bonanza!
May 8 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
Join RIPA for a fun and informative morning of socially distanced birding. We will be taking a nature walk from the 103rd Street Footbridge looking for some of the migratory birds that use Randall’s Island to rest and refuel on their incredible journeys to their final nesting sites for the summer. We will be handing out free information and craft kits from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology to help celebrate our urban birds. Binoculars will be available and sterilized before and after each use though bringing your own pair is encouraged.
All are welcome! Registration required for bird walk on Eventbrite.
May 8th, 10 am.
Location: 103rd Street Footbridge.
