Randall’s Island Park has a rich history of hosting cultural events and continues to do so today. Throughout the year, RIPA provides numerous free drop-in programs such as walking tours, movie nights, waterfront activities and our annual Cherry Blossom and Harvest Festivals. In addition, large special events, produced by independent organizations other than the City and RIPA, offer visitors a great variety of exciting options – continuing the Island’s strong tradition as a central entertainment venue for New York City.

Each spring RIPA’s annual Cherry Blossom Festival ushers in the warmer months, and gives visitors the opportunity to appreciate the Park’s spring beauty with live music, performances, games, exhibitions and more, inspired by Japanese culture. Randall’s Island is home to more than 152 species of birds, inhabiting the Park’s nearly 20 acres of wetlands and natural areas. Join us for a day of free, family-friendly bird watching! Join us as we unlock Island secrets at The Great Randall’s Island Treasure Hunt! This event, offered in partnership with Hudson Valley Orienteering, includes two orienteering courses - one for adults and one for children. At Get Hooked, children have the opportunity to learn about the wildlife living in the waters surrounding Randall’s Island.
