Randall’s Island Park has a rich history of hosting cultural events and continues to do so today. Throughout the year, RIPA provides numerous free drop-in programs such as walking tours, movie nights, waterfront activities and our annual Cherry Blossom and Harvest Festivals. In addition, large special events, produced by independent organizations other than the City and RIPA, offer visitors a great variety of exciting options – continuing the Island’s strong tradition as a central entertainment venue for New York City.

Rapunzel wants to let her hair down! In this classic tale, princess Rapunzel has been locked away in a tower since she was captured as a baby by witchy Mother Gothel. At the age of 18, Rapunzel becomes curious about the outside world, and when the charismatic thief, Flynn, uses her tower as a refuge, she asks him to help her escape. Watch as leaving the tower leads to adventure, love and the understanding of true friendship.
