DESCRIPTION:Volunteer with our team to manage our one-acre Urban Farm! \nWhether you are new to our farm or have been a tried-and-true weekly volunteer\, come and join us! Volunteers must be at least 10 years old. Individuals under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult who volunteers with them. Individuals ages 16 & 17 can volunteer if a parent or guardian has signed a waiver. SUMMARY:Flotsam River Circus
DESCRIPTION:Come see Flotsam River Circus on Randall’s Island on Saturday\, Sept. 13th\, and Sunday Sep. 14!\n\nFlotsam is a troupe of musicians\, circus artists\, and puppeteers traveling on a handmade raft\, giving free performances in waterfront towns along the way.\n\nThey’ll be performing at the SW side of the Island\, right by the Ward’s Island Pedestrian Bridge. Just look for the most unusual ‘boat’ on the water — that’s us!\n\nOur show is family-friendly but intended for audiences of all ages. The performance starts at 6:00 pm and will be finished before 7:30. Bring a blanket or lawn chair\, and come early for a good spot!\n\nThe show is free to attend\, but we keep this crazy project afloat through donations. SUMMARY:Team RIVER Volunteers
DESCRIPTION:Volunteer with Team RIVER (Randall’s Island Volunteer Ecological Restorers) and help keep Randall’s Island Park beautiful! Team RIVER Volunteers regularly work with the Natural Areas team twice a month to take care of and restore our natural spaces on the island. With our Horticulture team\, volunteers care for the many gardens\, green streets and meadows\, every second Wednesday of each month. Team RIVER also works with our Sports Field and Operations teams\, keeping our park clean and maintained. If you are only able to volunteer on a limited basis\, you are still very much welcome! \nThis volunteer opportunity is open to individuals from the community. Groups of more than 5 people must contact: Volunteers@RandallsIsland.org \nVolunteers must be at least 11 years old. Anyone under the age of 18 must have a waiver signed by their legal guardian before starting any work. Children under 16 must also have an adult with them while volunteering. SUMMARY:International Coastal Cleanup
DESCRIPTION:The International Coastal Clean Up is an annual event that helps us keep our shoreline free of marine plastics and refuse! \nJoin members from the community and different partners for our annual coastal cleanup with us and the Ocean Conservancy. With miles of rocky coastline\, Randall’s Island Park can always use a hand removing marine plastics and litter that gather between the rocks and in our marshes.\n\nBeginning at Icahn Stadium\, volunteers will be sent to various places on the island to collect and record what they have removed from the park.\n\nLast year volunteers collected more than 500 pounds of litter and plastics permanently removing them from our water systems!\nRegistration is required here. \nLocation: Wards Meadow Public Bathroom \nFor inquiries about accessibility\, to request an accommodation or for event information\, please email publicprograms@randallsisland.org.
