A career employee since 1999 of the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation, Deputy Park Administrator Eric Peterson oversees the operation of the Park, including daily maintenance, park amenities, permitting, capital improvements, and coordination with Parks and the other agencies who operate on the Island. Eric joined Randall’s Island in 2009 as the first phases of the reconstructed fields, paths and picnic areas were opened at the Park.

Prior to coming to Randall’s Island, Eric facilitated the opening the High Line, and previously served as Chief of Staff in Parks’ Capital Division. He also served as a Parks & Recreation Manager in Brooklyn, a Director of Special Events & Permits for Manhattan as well as an Analyst and Project Manager in Marketing & Special Events.  Eric holds an MA from CUNY/Queens College and a BS from Yale University.
