Jennifer James is Executive Director of Communications, Government & External Affairs, Medgar Evers College since December 2014. The Division of Communications & External Relations is a unit within the Office of the President which is responsible for promoting and enhancing the image of the College, for advancing the College’s institutional and fundraising agenda, and for disseminating information to a variety of governmental, university and community constituencies, including faculty, staff, students, alumni, community groups, the City University, public officials and educational organizations.
She previously served as Pre-K CBECC Senior Coordinator for the NYC Mayor’s Pre-K for All Initiative from June 2014-December 2014, as the Deputy Director of Public Affairs for the Office of the NYC Comptroller, from January 2011 – December 2013, as District Director for the Office of Congressman Edolphus Towns, from 2008-2011 and as Director of the Kings County Democratic Committee, from 2007-2008. She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science, government and public relations from Syracuse University (1996) and was appointed by Governor Cuomo to the board of the Atlantic Yards Community Development Corporation in 2015. Since April 2017, Jennifer has been a trustee of the Randall’s Island Park Alliance.
