Lucy Fato

Lucy Fato graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Pittsburgh in 1988 with a B.A. in business and economics, and received her J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh, School of Law in 1991. Following graduation, Lucy joined the law firm Davis Polk & Wardwell in New York City where she was elected a corporate partner in the Capital Markets department in 2000.

In 2005, Lucy left Davis Polk to become Vice President, Deputy General Counsel & Corporate Secretary at Marsh & McLennan Companies where she worked until July 2014. From August 2014 through October 2015, she was Executive Vice President & General Counsel of McGraw Hill Financial.

In 2009, Lucy was inducted into the YWCA-NYC Academy of Women Leaders. In 2015, she was the Randall’s Island Park Alliance business honoree and was named by Ethisphere Magazine as one of the “2015 Attorneys Who Matter” for her dedication to furthering corporate ethics.

Lucy is a member of the Board of Directors of Amref Health Africa, the U.S. affiliate of an African-based organization that seeks to build health systems and train health workers to address the continent’s most critical challenges with a focus on maternal and child health.   Since 2015, she has served on the Board of Trustees of the Randall’s Island Park Alliance.

Lucy lives in New York City with her husband (Matthew Detmer), two daughters (Malibu and Valentina), a dog (Zira) and two fish (Shooting Star and Charlie).
