Throughout the year, RIPA hosts over 200 free public events including tours, movie nights, waterfront activities, our annual Earth Day and Harvest Festivals and more. These family-friendly drop-in events play an integral role in helping Park visitors explore the Island’s varied points of interest. We strive to host inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals to engage fully.

Help us maintain a healthy environment for our marine wildlife by joining our efforts to remove any and all debris along our shorelines! Roll up your sleeves and get your hands a little bit dirty in our gardens on National Gardening Day. Gardening is a fun and relaxing hobby enjoyed by many, and this is the perfect day for those who have been wanting to take up gardening to finally gather. Explore the Island by bike! Join us for a fun bike tour of the park. Enjoy views of our gardens, urban farm, and wetlands! All attendees MUST wear facemasks and commit to social-distancing. Celebrate the 51st anniversary of Earth day with Randall's Island Horticulture and Natural Areas teams. Get hands-on with our woodland restoration project. Mulching the woodland path will provide valuable habitat for wildlife and expand park visitors' experience. After mulching, our horticulturist leads a garden tour. Join us as we celebrate Arbor Day by planting native trees in our woodland garden. Trees are essential to a healthy environment and they contribute greatly to our everyday lives. Riverkeeper Sweep – Volunteer Event
Join RIPA as we do our part to clean up marine debris along the Island's beautiful shorelines within the Hudson River estuary. The event is one of the largest volunteer efforts to clean up the Hudson River watershed with thousands of volunteers across dozens of sites from Albany to New York City. We will also be collecting data on the types of trash we find to help inform better stewardship of the resource for future generations. This is a free event, but registration is required.
