Our Free Harvest Festival Takes Place on October 4

We burst into the fall season with some seasonal free programming here at Randall’s Island Park!

We host recurring volunteer programs for those who want to help keep our parks looking beautiful.

Join the Team RIVER Volunteer on Wednesdays from 9:30-12:30 PM, or volunteer at our Urban Farm on Sundays from 10:00-1:00PM.

Our Jesse Owens Track & Field Youth Program is underway and takes place every Saturday from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM. This free weekly program done in partnership with City Parks Foundation, is available to youth ages 8-16 and enables participants to learn the fundamentals of the sport and stay active. The program is off the Island and takes place at Thomas Jefferson Park in East Harlem, except for October 24 where it will take place ahead of our Boo Bash celebration on the island!

New York City’s annual City of Forest Day comes back to Randall’s Island Park on October 3. From 10 – 11:30AM, enjoy a guided nature walk with our Natural Areas staff. We will identify and age trees, watch birds, and learn about the relationships between the two. Binoculars will be available to borrow. Registration is required here!

Sunday, October 4, from 12 – 3:00PM, we will be having our 14th annual free Harvest Festival at our Urban Farm and Fields 62 & 63! Explore our pumpkin patch, watch seasonal cooking demonstrations, enjoy live performances, get creative with face painting, and discover nature through hands-on activities with local partners.

Biking to the Harvest Festival? We have you covered as Transportation Alternatives will be running a Bike Valet. There will also be meetup to bike to the festival courtesy of El Barrio Bikes!

As we get closer to Halloween, bring the kids in costume to our Halloween Boo Bash celebration on Saturday, October 24, from 12 – 3:00PM. At our White Garden, there will free giveaways and candy, with Halloween-themed activities, crafts, music, and more!

We close out October with our Wild Oyster Survey that takes place in the Little Hell Game Salt Marsh from 3 – 5:00PM. Volunteers will have the opportunity to identify oysters and take multiple parameters to determine the abundance, size, and health of the wild oyster population!
