About The Pitch
Located here on Randall’s Island, Icahn Stadium is the Randall’s Island Park Alliance’s premier sports facility. Opened in 2005 on the historic site of Downing Stadium, where Pelé played his first U.S. match—it continues a legacy of athletic excellence.
In 2024, the stadium’s soccer pitch was fully reconstructed into a FIFA-certified, professional-level Kentucky bluegrass field, made possible by a $3 million donation from New York City FC. The 5,000-seat stadium now serves as Randall’s Island Park’s top destination for professional soccer and other field sports, hosting matches, practices and year-round athletic events.
NYCFC II plays select home games here, and teams like Gotham FC, Everton, and the Korean Republic national team have also trained and competed on the pitch.
The stadium is fully wheelchair accessible, with ramps on both the north and south entrances as well as an elevator at the north entrance near the Icahn Stadium plaza.
Please note that while the track is generally not open for public use, you can run with us during Community Track Nights! Please check our events page for more information here.
