About The Stadium
Icahn Stadium, the Randall’s Island Park Alliance’s signature facility, opened in 2005 on the site of the former Downing Stadium. Located along Randall’s Island Park’s northwestern shoreline, the Stadium is visible from the East Side of Manhattan, East Harlem, and the FDR Drive. The facility meets International Amateur Athletic Federation (IAAF) specifications for accommodating local, national and international track and field events, including Olympic training and trials.
In 2024, the field within the Icahn Stadium track was reconstructed to provide flexible additional use as a professional-level Kentucky bluegrass soccer pitch. The 5,000-seat stadium is now Randall’s Island Park’s premier location for soccer and other rectangular field sports that seek a home for their championships or high-level play. The Stadium bustles with activity throughout the year, as thousands of athletes use the facility for track meets and practice sessions as well as soccer matches. See the Icahn Stadium calendar for a complete list of events.
Icahn Stadium offers a standard 400-meter Mondo surface running track and a Kentucky bluegrass soccer pitch, flanked by covered spectator seating with views of the East River and the Manhattan skyline. The complex also includes a synthetic soccer field to the north of the Stadium, which is outfitted with a scoreboard, fencing, lighting and bleachers for spectator events.
Please note that while the track is generally not open for public use, you can run with us during Community Track Nights! Please check our events page for more information.
