Fishing and Our Urban Farm Highlight September's Events

Get ready for fall with free events and programs on Randall’s Island Park this September.

Our LAST free yoga session of the year takes place on Tuesday, Sept. 1, at 6:30 PM at the East River Picnic Area. Stretch, breathe, and take in a serene workout with our instructor Nautica Maldonado while watching the sunset on the Harlem River.

We host recurring volunteer programs for those who want to help keep our parks looking beautiful.

Join the Team RIVER Volunteer on Wednesdays from 9:30-12:30 PM, or volunteer at our Urban Farm on Sundays from 10:00-1:00PM.

Our Jesse Owens Track & Field Youth Program starts its fall session on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 10:00 AM-12:00 PM. This free weekly program done in partnership with City Parks Foundation, is available to youth ages 8-16 and enables participants to learn the fundamentals of the sport and stay active. The program is off the Island and takes place at Thomas Jefferson Park in East Harlem.

Femme Fishing returns to Randall’s Island Park on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM at our East River Picnic Area. Join us for an afternoon of fishing for women, femme, and gender-nonconforming folx! Please register with the Recreational Marine Fishing Registry prior to the event; we are also available to help register people on site.

The Urban Farm hosts free food demonstrations to teach the community-at-large how to cook with the seasonal produce they can see growing on the farm. Come on Saturday, Sept. 12, from 12:00PM-2:00PM to take part in these demos and taste some outstanding food from some local chefs!

Join us at the Urban Farm on Saturday, Sept. 19, from 12:00PM-3:00PM for our second annual Taste of the Farm event. Enjoy a family-friendly fun day that features chef-led tastings with culturally important farm grown ingredients, ginger and botanical soda brewing, vegetable print making, flower arranging, lawn games, and more!

Our final Saturday of September has two events, so make it a full-day drop to the Island! From 9:00AM-12:00PM, take part in our Salt Marsh Saturday program and learn about the vital ecosystem living on our shores! Afterwards, spend time with our Horticulture team at their Natural Dyeing Workshop from 1:00PM-3:00PM. Registration is required and open on September 12 at 1:00PM!

For the soccer fan, come watch NYC FC II host two matches here at Icahn Stadium! While these events are NOT free, they are affordable fun for the entire family!

September 8, 5:00PM – NYC FC II vs. New York Red Bulls 2

September 13, 5:00PM – NYC FC II vs. CT United FC
