Get Ready for Fall with September’s Free Programming Schedule

With the weather cooling down and and the leaves starting to change, join us here at Randall’s Island Park for all of our free public programming!
Join us at the East River Picnic Area on Tuesday evenings from 6:30-7:30 PM on Sept. 2 and Sept. 9 for our free yoga sessions that will help keep you light and limber! Our free yoga classes end on Sept. 9 for 2025, so make sure to get to the park ASAP!
We host recurring volunteer programs for those who want to help keep our parks looking beautiful.
Join the Team RIVER Volunteer on Wednesdays from 9:30-12:30 PM, or volunteer at our Urban Farm on Sundays from 10:00-1:00PM.
On September 6, we have a busy day at the park with two free public programs! First join us for Live & Local Art Pop-Up at 12 PM at our Urban Farm where you can experience live art demonstrations and admire finished pieces and more.
Starting at 1 PM at the East River Picnic Area we will be having our second Femme Fishing of the season! Supplies are provided, but we ask that you register for the Recreational Marine Fishing Register for free online.
If you are interested in the fascinating habitats and animals on the island, our Wetland Wednesdays program is happening on September 10! From 2:30-4:30 PM on the second Wednesday of every month, the marsh pathway gates on the boardwalk will be open and members of RIPA’s Natural Areas Team will be on site to answer questions, share interesting facts and more.
On Saturday, September 13, we kick off our 2025 Jesse Owens Track & Field Youth program for the Fall! We host this program every Saturday from 10 AM – 12 PM at Thomas Jefferson Park. This free weekly program is available to youth ages 8-16 and enables participants to learn the fundamentals of the sport and stay active.

At our Urban Farm on September 13, come check out a unique event, Sorghum Saturday! This sweet Saturday at the Urban Farm teaches out about sorghum and participants will have an interactive experience and discover the joy of pressing this crop.
Next week on Sept. 20, join us for our annual International Coastal Cleanup day here at the park that starts at 9:30 AM. Join members from the community and different partners for our annual coastal cleanup with us and the Ocean Conservancy. With miles of rocky coastline, Randall’s Island Park can always use a hand removing marine plastics and litter that gather between the rocks and in our marshes.

Also on Sept. 20, our horticulture team will be hosting a Natural Dyeing Workshop at our Urban Farm that starts at 1 PM. Join us for a hands-on workshop where you’ll create beautiful, eco-friendly dyes using natural materials from our gardens! Registration is required, but keep an eye on the program page for when it’s posted!
Our biggest event of the month, and the Fall season, is our annual Harvest Festival! Come to Randall’s Island Park on Sunday, Sept. 28 at 12 PM to celebrate the Fall harvest.
Decorate and bring home your very own pumpkin from our immersive patch, participate in a cooking demonstration with seasonal vegetables, enjoy live performances, have your face painted, and learn about nature with our partners.
