Celebrate the End of Summer with our Entertaining and Engaging August Programming

Wrap up your summer at Randall’s Island Park with programming for all ages. Join us for volunteering, fishing, soccer games and other exciting events.

Join us at the East River Picnic Area on Tuesday evenings from 6:30-7:30 PM and Saturday mornings from 10-11 AM for our free yoga sessions that will help rejuvenate your body and keep you centered! After you stretch on Saturdays, the East River Picnic Area will host free salsa dance lessons from 11-11:45 AM.

We host recurring volunteer programs for those who want to help keep our parks looking beautiful.

Join the Team RIVER Volunteer on Wednesdays from 9:30-12:30 PM, or volunteer at our Urban Farm on Sundays from 10:00-1:00PM.

On August 2nd, we are welcoming women, femme, and gender-nonconforming folx to Femme Fishing on the East River Picnic Area Green to build a femme aligned fishing community. Supplies are provided, but we ask that you register for the Recreational Marine Fishing Register for free online.

We are excited to invite you to Park After Dark, an evening of two of our favorite events! 

The evening kicks off at 5:00 PM with Cocktails on the Urban Farm. Enjoy cocktails and mocktails made with fresh ingredients grown in the Urban Farm. Indulge in plant-based hors d’oeuvres, crafts, and activities.

Then, at 9:00 PM, unwind at our Movie Night on Field 62 overlooking the evening skyline. We will be showing the fun and family-friendly Pixar animated film, Elemental. Join us for all or part of the evening!

If you are interested in the fascinating habitats and animals on the island, our Wetland Wednesdays program is happening on August 13th! From 2:30-4:30 PM on the second Wednesday of every month, the marsh pathway gates on the boardwalk will be open and members of RIPA’s Natural Areas Team will be on site to answer questions, share interesting facts and more.

Icahn Stadium is hosting NYCFC II and Gotham FC for three games in the month of August. On August 8th, come see NYCFC II face Chicago Fire FC II at 7:30 PM. Gotham FC will play CF Monterrey Femenil in a can’t miss game on August 20th at 7:00 PM. Don’t miss the last August game on the 22nd, where NYCFC II will play Columbus Crew 2 in the best soccer Randall’s Island Park has to offer!

Visit our Urban Farm for the first ever Taste of the Farm on August 16th, 12:00-3:00 PM. This family-friendly event is full of fun activities and delicious food grown at the Urban Farm. Come try your hand at pickling, ice-cream making, flower arranging, and more!

We wrap up our August events on the 28th hosting the Open Invite 5k, powered by On at Icahn Stadium. Check-in starts at 5:30 PM, and prizes will be awarded to winners in this cross-country style race. On will be holding demonstrations of their fastest shoes before and after the race.
