Throughout the year, RIPA hosts over 200 free public events including tours, movie nights, waterfront activities, our annual Earth Day and Harvest Festivals and more. These family-friendly drop-in events play an integral role in helping Park visitors explore the Island’s varied points of interest. We strive to host inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals to engage fully.

With interest in fungi and mushroom spawning across the city, the New York Mycological Society is putting together the city’s first ever Fungus Festival!
This community-centered event is FREE for the public, open to all-ages, and all mushroom-curious amateurs and experts alike. The event will feature mushroom displays and identification tables, expert-led mushroom walks, art and cultivation workshops, food and mushroom tea samples, lectures by experts on a variety of topics, kids activities (face painting and costume making), mushroom merchandise, and excursiones en español. As well as our community partners, the James Baldwin Outdoor Learning Center, Latino Outdoors NYC, NYU Mycology Group, Smallhold, Biotech Without Borders, and the Cornell Small Farm Community Mushroom Educators program.
