June’s Diverse Programming Offers an Array of Fun at Randall’s Island!
Come to Randall's Island Park This June and Enjoy Our Free Programs!
Skies are clear and the meadows are stunning here at Randall’s Island Park with the month of June underway! We are already seeing the park filled with celebrations, so please join us at our free programs throughout the month!
Get June started with some free yoga at the park on Tuesday evenings from 6:30-7:30 PM at our East River Picnic Area. Enjoy the serene surroundings by the water with a local yoga instructor! Saturday yoga also starts on June 28 from 10:00-11:00 AM at the same location. Note: There is no Yoga on Tuesday, June 10.
Other recurring free programs this month include the Jesse Owens Track & Field Youth Program, Team River volunteering, and Urban Farm volunteering. In addition to volunteering on the Farm, there are open hours to visit all throughout the week. Note: There is no urban farm volunteering on June 15.
The first Saturday of the month brings World Oceans Day to our Randall’s Island Park shoreline! Drop-in on June 7 at 12:00 PM to observe the team conduct seining in the Harlem River and assist in counting and ID’ing fish and other aquatic organisms.
On June 10, the Randall’s Island Park Alliance will be hosting its annual Gala. This year’s honorees include former RIPA Vice President Pinky Keehner, Xavier Track head coach Pat Dormer, and New York Road Runners CDO Alex Egan. In addition, the evening will be honoring the 20th anniversary of Icahn Stadium! Learn more about our gala here.
June 11 will be our official debut of Wetland Wednesdays! The weather forced our May event to be postponed but we are optimistic that June will bring clear skies! From 2:30-4:30 PM on the second Wednesday of every month, the marsh pathway gates on the boardwalk will be open and members of RIPA’s Natural Areas Team will be on site to answer questions, share interesting facts and more.
Now back to Icahn Stadium…come enjoy a Community Track Night on June 12 starting at 6:00 PM! Follow your own training plan or join Harlem Run for a workout from 6:45 – 7:45 PM. Runners of all abilities are welcome but must be 18 or older to participate.
RIPA is excited to celebrate Pride Month all throughout June, but we have two events on June 14 we are especially jazzed about!
Starting at 5 PM on the urban farm, come to our Park After Dark: Pride Cocktails on the Farm for a queer cocktail night. Taste delicious farm-to-table bites from Chef Leo Kirts, farm-fresh cocktails and mocktails suppled by grotto, crafts and activities, and a drag performance by Janae SaisQuoi, Nani Tsunami, Scarlett D. Von’Du and more!
The first 100 participants will receive a free drink ticket, and additional drinks are available for purchase!
Over on Fields 62 & 63, as the sun goes down, take in a screening of the Academy Award-winning film Wicked! Bring a blanket and enjoy Wicked with a great view of the Hell Gate Bridge and city skyline! The movie will begin at sunset (a popular choice)!
With flowers in full bloom and pollination season in full effect, spend a day with our horticulture team at our Pollinator Palooza on June 21 from 12:00-3:00 PM! We’re hosting a pollinator-themed afternoon of art, games, and exploration. Take photos at our butterfly photobooth and bring home your own pollinator craft.
Experience the flavors of Randall’s Island Park Alliance’s Urban Farm through a free, interactive cooking demonstration! June 28 at 1:00 PM, learn from Chef Angie in the urban farm kitchen for an afternoon filled with farm factoids and food!
The final Saturday of the month also marks the beginning of our weekly Dance in the Park! programming. Saturdays from 11:00-11:45 AM will include dance lessons at our East River Picnic Area location.
